Warrenton Girls Win State Basketball Title

The Warrenton 8th grade girls basketball team captured the middle school state title in Salem, defeating Madras/Warm Springs 60-52 in a thrilling championship game.

The team went 5-6 on the tournament weekend, with their only loss coming against Madras on Saturday night. After defeating Yamhill-Carlton 52-40 on Friday and Crescent Valley 45-17 on Saturday afternoon, the Warrenton girls bounced back with wins over Banks 40-28 and Seaside 48-20 to advance to the championship. Trailing by nine at halftime, the team showed resilience to secure the victory.

Comprised of six 8th graders and four 7th graders, the squad has demonstrated remarkable chemistry, with six of the players having competed together for five years.
