Texans Acquire David Montgomery in Trade for Late‑Round Picks

The trade sends Houston’s 2026 fourth‑round pick, 2027 seventh‑round pick and lineman Juice Scruggs to Detroit in exchange for David Montgomery, who will take over as the Texans’ primary back for the 2026 season.

Montgomery, 28, has 2,506 rushing yards, 650 receiving yards and 33 touchdowns over three seasons with the Lions. He averaged 740 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2023, and was a key contributor to Detroit’s playoff runs.
