Tennessee has completed its defensive staff by hiring 27-year veteran assistant Derek Jones as cornerbacks coach. Jones, who worked with defensive coordinator Jim Knowles at Duke, replaces Michael Hunter who left for the Los Angeles Rams shortly after joining Tennessee.
The Volunteers have significantly rebuilt their cornerback room this offseason, bringing in several transfers to complement returning players. Jones, who played at Ole Miss in the mid-90s and was most recently at Virginia Tech, will begin preparations for spring practice as Tennessee aims to field a versatile secondary this fall.
