David Bailey Smiles Over Commanders Interest

The Washington Commanders, holding the No. 7 overall pick, are targeting a new edge rusher and met with Texas Tech’s David Bailey at the 2026 NFL Combine. Bailey, who posted 12.5 sacks last season, was among several prospects the team discussed, including Ohio State’s Sonny Styles and Miami’s Rueben Bain Jr.

When asked by reporter Donna Hopkins, Bailey smiled and said, “I’ve talked to them and I’m willing to do anything for them. Pass rusher, special teams, anything—I’m just going to be grateful for the opportunities.” His enthusiasm fits the Commanders’ new defensive scheme under coordinator Daronte Jones.
