White Sox History: Billy Sullivan's Debut & Moe Berg Born

On this day in 1901, Billy Sullivan began his 13-season career with the Chicago White Sox, and future spy Moe Berg was born in New York City.

Sullivan, a glove-first catcher, compiled 12.4 defensive WAR with the team, remaining the second-best among Sox catchers. He caught the first American League game and managed the club briefly in 1909.
