As we hurtle along at breakneck speed towards the end of the 2025-26 campaign, there are an awful lot of unknowns that await culers.
Not least the outcome of the presidential elections, which will largely dictate what happens next with the first-team squad.
Regardless of whether Barca win LaLiga, the Champions League, Copa del Rey or nothing at all, the summer transfer window will offer various opportunities to the club, and indeed to the players.
Frankly, no one really knows what’s going to occur at this point in time, but it’s certainly worth posing the question as to what might happen with the front line this summer.
Raphinha and Lamine Yamal are obvious fixtures, and the club are being tipped to try and keep hold of Marcus Rashford.
Roony Bardghji has proven to be a reasonable enough back-up for the wider areas, too, and given his purchase price, there’s no reason why he won’t continue in the Blaugrana.
But what about Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres?
The Poland international certainly still knows where the goal is but, with respect, he almost needs to have the ball served to him on a plate in order to be able add to his tally nowadays.
One goal in the last six isn’t good enough at this level, and with his contract coming to an end this summer, not to mention that he’ll be 38 in August, there’s a decent argument that collective caps should be doffed in his direction for his immense contribution, whilst sending him on his way for the final stage of his glorious career.
Ferran is also in the midst of a goal drought.
One goal in the last eight indicates that ‘The Shark’ has been a little toothless of late, something that’s blighted his career at the club at various stages.
When in form, he’s not only proven to be a more than able deputy for Lewandowski, but an elite-level front man. However, those periods of form have been few and far between.
With a contract up in a year from now, perhaps it’s worth Barca cutting their losses, utilising Rashford not only as cover in the wider areas but also centrally, and looking to go all out for a world-class striker to lead the team into a new era from next season.
