Two big reasons why Trent McDuffie works out better than Marcus Peters did for the Rams.

1. He fits their profile as a small, but aggressive CB. Good in run-support + slot/outside versatility.

2. Past connection with Jimmy Lake who recruited and coached him at UW.

The Trent McDuffie trade is a cool example of two franchises with wildly different team-building philosophies that prove that both strategies can work.

The Rams consistently devalue picks to add playmakers at positions of need.

Trent McDuffie gives Rams a really solid presence on the outside. They love to load up in nickel and dime but with safeties these days; having a top CB who can hold down the perimeter allows them to keep the math on their side (although he could kick inside in a pinch).

The Trent McDuffie trade came down to the Rams and the Giants, I'm told.

In the end, the Rams were the team willing to give up first-round PLUS.

The Chiefs get a 1, 3, 5 and 6. Really good haul. It's the equivalent of the 20-21st overall pick … where KC took McDuffie in '22.

I love Trent McDuffie. Been a fan of his since college and I thought he’d be a pro bowler with the Chiefs before he broke out into one.

Just as a point of reference: The @Chiefs' analytics had the full haul for Trent McDuffie, all four picks, at a value equivalent right around the 20th overall pick. Which is one pick ahead of where he was picked in 2022.

This would be a terrible value trade for the Rams if they weren't near Super Bowl favorites. It's a lot of capital for a CB, plus the extension that'll come with it.

But if it increases their SB odds by 1-2%, then full send. Great content!

This is a good trade for both the Rams and the Chiefs imo.

Rams need immediate DB help so they can maximize their window.

Chiefs desperately need picks so they can get cheap talent to offset their cap issues.
