Erling Haaland injury news: Pep Guardiola gives latest update on Manchester City star

Manchester City star Erling Haaland did not play at Elland Road on Saturday when the second-place Citizens topped Leeds United 1-0 and he remains a doubt for City's home game against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.

Haaland, 25, picked up an injury in training and was not fit to travel with the team to Leeds, as Omar Marmoush started up top for City.

Saturday was Haaland's first time missing a Premier League squad since May 2, 2025 when he was an unused sub at the end of a six-match absence for an ankle injury.

Pep Guardiola said the following on Haaland's injury ahead of City's home game with Nottingham Forest on Wednesday.

"Erling feels much better but yesterday we didn’t train and now we have training and will decide today," Guardiola said.

Man City’s Premier League record without Erling Haaland is solid

Haaland missed seven games last season and City went 5-1-1. The prior season, he also missed seven and City went 6W-1D. So... pretty good.

Haaland has 22 goals and seven assists in the Premier League this season, pacing the division in goals and goal contributions. Only Bruno Fernandes has more assists than the Norwegian.

City will be careful not to rush Haaland back too soon but given those numbers, and his overall importance, they need him in every game down the stretch as the chase down Arsenal for the title and still have dreams of the quadruple.
