Guernsey FC Women suffered a 4-1 loss at home to AFC Varsity in Southern Region Women's Football League Division One South.

The defeat was the Green Lionesses' sixth loss in eight games and means they slip to eighth place in the 11-team league.

Sofia Ryan's 25th-minute goal gave the visitors the lead at Victoria Park before Gurinder Rayat doubled the tally four minutes later as a depleted Guernsey side trailed 2-0 at the break.

Codie Le Flem and Ruby Smith had chances to reduce the deficit before Beth Ebert put Varsity 3-0 up six minutes into the second half.

The win was secured seven minutes later when Eloise Paine made it 4-0.

Scarlett Kenneally headed a Guernsey corner against the bar as the hosts looked for a consolation goal - which they got two minutes into stoppage time when Smith fired in from the edge of the box.
