Titans reportedly trading DT T'Vondre Sweat to Jets for DE Jermaine Johnson

The Tennessee Titans are reportedly trading defensive tackle T'Vondre Sweat to the New York Jets for defense end Jermaine Johnson, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The trade will not become official until the start of the new NFL year at 4 p.m. ET on March 11.

Sweat, 24, was the Titans' second-round pick in 2024 out of Texas. In two seasons with the franchise he has 85 total tackles and three sacks in 29 games.

The 26-year-old Johnson was the 26th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft by the Jets. In four seasons, he has 131 total tackles, 13 sacks and 1 interception. He has a connection with Robert Saleh as the new Titans coach was with the Jets for parts of Johnson's first three NFL seasons.

That now makes three first-round draft picks that the Jets have dealt in the past four months following Sauce Gardner (Colts) and Quinnen Williams (Cowboys).

Johnson will count $13.4 million on the Titans' salary cap for the 2026 season, the final year of his current contract. Sweat, who is signed through 2027, will count only $1.7 million on the Jets' books.

Johnson's departure from New York opens up the likelihood that Jets general manager Darren Mougey selects an edge rusher with second overall draft pick. The most recent Yahoo Sports NFL mock draft has the Jets taking Miami's Rueben Bain Jr. at No. 2 over a new quarterback. Ohio State's Arvell Reese and Texas Tech's David Bailey are also options with their first-round choice.
