Warriors get another injury blow ahead of upcoming back-to-back

Kristaps Porzingis didn't play in the Golden State Warriors' win over the Denver Nuggets on Sunday, Feb. 22. The veteran big man reportedly woke up feeling sick, informing head coach Steve Kerr via text. Porzingis' absence was certainly a blow for the Warriors, especially as he'd made his debut for the franchise in their previous outing, a 121-110 loss to the Boston Celtics.

Now, it would appear that Porzingis is set to miss at least two more games. According to The Athletic's Anthony Slater, the veteran big man has not travelled with the team to New Orleans and, therefore, will not be available when Golden State faces off against the Memphis Grizzlies on the second night of a back-to-back.

"Kristaps Porzingis did not make the trip to New Orleans with the Warriors. It’s a quick two-gamer with a back-to-back in Memphis," Slater reported via X. "This would indicate Porzingis (out with illness yesterday) is expected to miss at least the next two games. Draymond Green did make the trip."

Porzingis isn't the only member of Golden State's roster that's dealing with injury issues. Kerr's team was also without Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, Seth Curry, and Draymond Green for their game against the Denver Nuggets. However, Porzingis' health issues will continue to be a concern until he can string a sizeable run of games together. Furthermore, the Warriors will need Porzingis at his best if they're going to make any noise during the playoffs.

Without Porzingis in the rotation, Al Horford may keep his spot in the starting lineup. And considering the impact he made against Denver, that could be the right call.
