Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are running it back over a decade after their first encounter when the boxers meet in a rematch scheduled on Sept. 19 at the Sphere in Las Vegas, with the fight airing live on Netflix.

Netflix officially announced the rematch on Monday following an initial report from Ring Magazine. This is the first boxing match held at the Sphere after UFC 306 took place there in 2024.

Widely recognized as two of the greatest pound-for-pound boxers in recent history, Mayweather and Pacquiao seemed like they were on a collision course for years, but never actually met until they finally clashed in 2015. On that night, Mayweather largely dominated the 12-round fight before earning a unanimous decision win.

Now, over 10 years later, the rivals are running it back after Mayweather recently announced plans to return from retirement for another professional fight following a planned exhibition against Mike Tyson that’s also expected in 2026.

Mayweather, 48, hasn’t fought professionally since he finished UFC superstar Conor McGregor in 2017.

As for Pacquiao, he also returned from a long absence when he booked a fight against Mario Barrios this past July. The fight ultimately went to a draw, although many believe that Pacquiao deserved the decision in the 12-round title fight.

Pacquiao has his own exhibition scheduled against Ruslan Provodnikov at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas on April 18.

Following that fight, Pacquiao shifts gears to prepare for the rematch against Mayweather, with the bout airing live on Netflix after their initial matchup became the biggest pay-per-view in history with over 4.4 million buys

“Earlier in my career, I spent weeks in Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao’s training camps in Las Vegas and the Philippines,” Gabe Spitzer, Vice President of Sports at Netflix, said in a press release. “It was undeniable that they were the two hardest workers in boxing, and their wins and accolades were a product of that.

“Bringing this rematch to Netflix is a massive ‘full circle’ moment. We’re thrilled to combine their storied rivalry with the immersive technology of Sphere to deliver a landmark sporting event to our members worldwide.”

Mayweather vs. Pacquiao 2 is the latest endeavor for Netflix in combat sports after previously hosting fights such as Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson, Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford, and the upcoming MMA fight between former UFC champion Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano, which takes place in May.
