Syracuse sophomore Drew Zundell joined elite company by becoming only the third runner from West Virginia to record a sub-four minute mile in competition. The former University High School state champion crossed the finish line in 3:59.04 at a meet in Boston, MA, etching his name into state history.
Zundell's achievement was particularly meaningful as former Syracuse coach Chris Fox, one of the other two WV runners to accomplish the feat, was present to witness the milestone. The runner described it as a "full-circle moment" for both himself and the program Fox built.
