Top prospect Griffin in talks for $111M+ deal

Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop Konnor Griffin is deep in negotiations for a contract extension, with reports suggesting the deal could exceed $111 million.

According to ESPN's Buster Olney, the Pirates have proposed a deal closer to the eight-year, $111 million contract Corbin Carroll received from Arizona. Griffin's representatives are seeking an agreement closer to the eight-year, $130 million contract Roman Anthony secured from Boston.

The 19-year-old infielder, the consensus No. 1 prospect in baseball, was assigned to Triple-A to begin the 2026 season following a strong spring training.
