Tigers Seek Sweep of Cardinals in Game 9

The Detroit Tigers will try to finish a sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 9, with rookie right‑hander Keider Montero starting after Justin Verlander was scratched.

The Tigers, currently 4-4, will face the Cardinals, also 4-4, at Comerica Park on Sunday night. Rookie right‑hander Keider Montero will start in place of Justin Verlander, who was placed on the 15‑day IL. Montero’s spring training ERA was 9.00, but he is expected to be ready for the start. Opposing him is right‑hander Kyle Leahy, who posted a 7.20 ERA in his first start of the season.

The game kicks off at 7:20 p.m. ET and will be televised on Peacock/NBC Sports Network, streamed on MLB.TV, and heard on the Tigers Radio Network.
