Santander reveals shoulder pain returned in January

Anthony Santander has revealed his shoulder pain returned in January when he resumed hitting, leading to surgery for a torn labrum that will keep him sidelined for 5-6 months.

Toronto Blue Jays slugger Anthony Santander has disclosed that his shoulder pain resurfaced in January when he began hitting again after offseason rest. Despite taking time off, the pain persisted, leading to an MRI that revealed a torn labrum.

The injury, announced at the start of spring training, will require surgery and sideline the 31-year-old for 5-6 months. Santander, who missed most of last season with the same shoulder issue, is in the second year of a five-year, $92.5-million contract with the Blue Jays.
