San Diego FC routed CF Montreal 5-0 in their season opener on Saturday, with Amahl Pellegrino leading the charge with a goal and two assists. Eighteen-year-old Duran Ferree made his MLS debut with two saves, while Christopher McVey, Onni Valakari, Marcus Ingvartsen and 18-year-old Bryan each found the net for the home side.

Montreal played with 10 men after Tomas Aviles received a straight red card in the 50th minute. San Diego dominated possession (64%) and outshot Montreal 12-6, including 6-0 in the second half. Valakari, Ingvartsen and Zamblé also made their MLS debuts in the victory.
