Rousey Tried UFC Carano Fight Before Netflix Matchup

Ronda Rousey revealed she contacted UFC President Dana White about a Gina Carano fight, but the deal didn't work out. The former champion will now face Carano in a 145-pound bout on Netflix.

Rousey explained she reached out to White about potentially booking the Carano fight within the UFC, but 'it didn't exactly work out with the UFC.' Despite her best efforts to bring the matchup to the promotion where she was a champion and Hall of Famer, the deal fell through.

The former UFC women's bantamweight champion mentioned Carano was the driving force behind her comeback, saying she's 'the one person that I would come back to fight for.' Rousey noted she wanted to help Carano when she saw her struggling, adding that Carano is 'the one woman not only in MMA that doesn't owe me a damn thing but that I owe immensely.'
