World Athletics has announced Nairobi as host for the 2029 World Athletics Championships and Munich for the 2031 edition, with Africa hosting the event for the first time.

World Athletics confirmed on Tuesday that Nairobi will host the 2029 World Athletics Championships, while Munich will host the 2023 edition. This marks the first time Africa will host a senior-level athletics world championship since the event's inception in 1983.

"We are very fortunate to have four spectacular bids for 2029 and 2031 and the decision was not easy for the Council," acknowledged World Athletics President Sebastian Coe from Budapest, referring to the proposals from Nairobi, Munich, London and Rome. xsportfeed.quest
