Moore Granted Hearing to Challenge Arrest After Michigan Firing

Former Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore has been granted an evidentiary hearing on March 2 to challenge the basis of his arrest, a judge ruled Tuesday. The hearing will allow his lawyer to argue that key facts were omitted during the arrest process.

Judge Simpson granted Moore’s motion for an evidentiary hearing, giving his attorney a chance to contest the probable‑cause basis of the arrest. The lawyer contended that a detective failed to disclose that the alleged victim worked closely with Moore in the Michigan football program, a fact that could alter the interpretation of his communications.

Moore was fired in December after the university said he engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. Hours later he was arrested on charges of third‑degree home invasion, stalking and breaking and entering. The hearing is set for March 2.
