La Liga to probe Vinicius hate chants vs Osasuna

La Liga will investigate hate chants against Vinicius Junior during Osasuna's 2-1 victory over Real Madrid, following another racial incident involving the Brazilian.

La Liga has confirmed it is actively investigating video footage that appears to show Osasuna fans chanting "Vinicius, muerete" (Vinicius, die) during Saturday's match. The 25-year-old Real Madrid winger was also subjected to whistles and derogatory chants, including "Vinicius, balon de playa" (beach ball), mocking his second-place finish for the 2024 Ballon d'Or.

Despite the hostile environment, Vinicius temporarily silenced the crowd with a goal in the 73rd minute. However, Osasuna claimed victory with Raul García's 90th-minute winner. This incident follows another racial incident involving Vinicius with SL Benfica just days earlier. The Pamplona stadium has a troubling history regarding the Real Madrid number seven, with a previous case of racial abuse being dismissed in 2024 due to an inability to identify the perpetrator.
