The Italian rugby team will debut the new 'Garibaldi Red' shirts during their Six Nations match against France at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy. The special kit commemorates Giuseppe Garibaldi, a key figure in Italy's unification in the 19th century, whose loyal volunteers were known as 'redshirts' for their distinctive jackets.
The new jerseys were unveiled at Quarto dei Mille near Genoa, where Garibaldi launched the 'Expedition of the Thousand' in 1860. Italy's women's team will also wear the special red shirts during their Six Nations campaign, continuing the tribute to the historical figure whose values of heroism and indomitable spirit are reflected in the team's performance.
