INDYCAR Freedom 250 Kicks Off in DC

The inaugural INDYCAR Freedom 250 Grand Prix is underway today on Washington's National Mall streets, with Alex Palou starting from pole on FOX coverage beginning at 11:30 a.m. ET.

The 2026 INDYCAR Freedom 250 marks the first automobile race on the National Mall, featuring a 1.7-mile, seven-turn circuit around landmarks including the U.S. Capitol and Washington Monument. The race is scheduled for 147 laps, approximately 250 miles, with green flag at 1:13 p.m. ET.

Palou shares the front row with Kyle Kirkwood, while Scott McLaughlin, Christian Rasmussen and Marcus Armstrong complete the top five starters. Josef Newgarden led Sunday morning's warmup, and President Trump made an appearance on pit road prior to the race.
