Daboll, who was formally introduced as Titans OC on Feb. 18, emphasized Ward's athletic ability and accuracy as key attractions. Despite Ward ranking outside the top 30 in passer rating and other rookie quarterback metrics, Daboll highlighted the QB's ability to make plays on the move and salvage broken plays.
The coordinator expressed comfort with Ward's unconventional mechanics, having studied all of his tape from college through his rookie season. Daboll, who previously developed Josh Allen in Buffalo, said 'April can't come soon enough' to begin installing his offense with the rehabbing QB.
