Connor's goals lift Jets past Blue Jackets

Kyle Connor scored twice to lead the Winnipeg Jets to a 2-1 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday night, keeping the Jets' playoff hopes alive.

The Jets overcame an early deficit to move to 78 points, just one point out of the final wild-card spot in the Western Conference. Connor tied the game with 1:46 left in the second period and scored the winner with 9:02 remaining in the third. His 36th goal of the season helped Winnipeg snap a two-game skid. Mark Scheifele recorded his 59th and 60th assists, while Connor Hellebuyck made 15 saves in the victory.

For Columbus, Ivan Provorov scored on the team's first shot 1:17 into the game, marking the Blue Jackets' 57th goal by a defenseman this season, a franchise record. Columbus has now lost six consecutive games and remains outside the Eastern Conference wild-card picture. The team will face Detroit on Tuesday night, while the Jets host Seattle on Monday.
