Bello's Debut Marred by Missed Strikeout, Early Exit

Red Sox rookie Brayan Bello's season debut was cut short after a missed strikeout and a walk forced him out of the game, leaving him with 4.2 innings, 2 strikeouts and a 9-2 loss.

Bello pitched 4.2 innings in his season debut, allowing 8 hits and 6 runs while striking out only twice. He was robbed of a third strikeout in the bottom of the fifth, which led to a walk and forced him to exit the game.

Bello said he believed the first pitch was a strike and that the batter swung at the second, but the call was not made. The Red Sox lost 9-2 at Daikin Park, and the missed strikeout could have shortened the inning.
