Orioles call up Gibson to face Yankees

The Baltimore Orioles are calling up top pitching prospect Trey Gibson to start against the New York Yankees on Sunday, facing Max Fried as the team deals with multiple injuries to their rotation.

According to manager Craig Albernaz, the 6-foot-5 right-hander will be activated from Triple-A to join the Orioles' taxi squad. Gibson, ranked Baltimore's No. 3 prospect by MLB.com and Baseball America, has a 4.01 ERA in six Triple-A starts this season with 25 strikeouts. The move comes as the Orioles are without Trevor Rogers, Dean Kremer, and Zach Eflin due to injuries. Baltimore sits at 15-17, six games out of first place in the AL East. game-sweetbonanza.com
