Hours after confirming a professional deal for Maalik Hashi, Arsenal have now announced that Teshaun Murisa has also signed his first pro contract with the club.

“I’m very delighted to achieve my dream of signing my first professional contract,” Murisa told the club website. “Especially with such a big club like Arsenal.

“I’ve been here since I was six, so it means even more to me, and I’m just really thankful to my family for always supporting me.

“Coming through Hale End for about 10 years now, you see so many people go through the same journey that you want to go on; actually achieving it now just makes it feel even better.”

Murisa has primarily been involved with the Arsenal u18s this season, making 17 appearances for the team. The youngster also played once for the u19s in the UEFA Youth League, as well as making an appearance for the u21s in the EFL Trophy.

Those were his debut appearances for the u19s and u21s respectively, so it’s been a season of firsts for Murisa already. Now, the defensive midfielder has his first professional contract to celebrate.

As with Hashi, the rules on first professional contracts mean it’s likely Murisa has signed on until 2028, though Arsenal haven’t and won’t confirm as much.

Pro deals are limited to three years when you first sign them, which in practice means the remainder of the current campaign and the following two after that.

It’s good to see Arsenal taking the opportunity of a rare midweek off to announce some new contracts, and hopefully there are some more on the way over the coming days.
