Pressure a privilege for Man Utd's Sesko

Pressure is a "privilege", according to Manchester United scoring hero Benjamin Sesko, and "something I have to have".

The £73.7m summer signing from RB Leipzig has taken a bit of time to get used to life in England.

Even though Sesko took his current tally to six in seven games with crucial goals at West Ham and Everton, there is no guarantee the 22-year-old will start Sunday's Premier League encounter with Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.

Boss Michael Carrick says it is not a problem for Sesko to be on the bench, and the Slovenia forward seems to agree - not that he views the pressure of playing at a club the size of United as a particularly onerous one.

"If I want to be a good player, the pressure is something I have to have," he said. "I take it as a privilege.

"It has [to be there] if you want to play at the highest level. It's about accepting it and not really caring about it."

In a season when United will only play 40 games because of their absence from European competition and early exits in both domestic cups, Sesko's opportunities under Carrick have been limited, with Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo sharing main striking duties.

Sesko doesn't give the impression of feeling he is being frozen out, though. In fact, the opposite is true.

"We are talking, of course, but [Michael Carrick] believes in me," he said. "Everyone believes in me.

"They are getting me ready to start as soon as possible.

"It's more about me showing up when it's important. No matter how many minutes I'm getting, I'm focusing on delivering and trying to help the team secure the wins."
