Following the conclusion of the most recent round of Premier League fixtures on Monday night, the BBC and WhoScored have published their Teams of the Week for Matchday 27.

Arsenal duo Viktor Gyokeres and Eberechi Eze feature in both teams, with the two players each scoring twice in the Gunners’ 4-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Gyokeres was also involved in the build-up to one of Eze’s goals, so perhaps it’s no surprise WhoScored awarded him a 9.14 rating, their highest rating of the weekend.

Eze’s 8.56 rating made him the highest-rated midfielder, and the third highest-rated player in the team behind Gyokeres and Dean Henderson.

As for the BBC, Troy Deeney unsurprisingly selected the same two players for his side.

On Eze, Deeney argued that the midfielder “has to go in this week with his two goals against Spurs”. The former player added that Eze has “been up and down this season, in and out of the team, but this will be a real confidence booster for him”.

As for Gyokeres, Deeney wrote: “Yes, the opposition were mediocre with a terrible backline but he doesn’t care. The rest of his play was better as well. I can’t give him too much credit, but you can only score against the teams put in front of you.”

Deeney also selected Mikel Arteta for his Manager of the Week, crediting the Arsenal boss for handling the pressure of recent results to dominate a big derby game.

It would have been difficult for anyone not to pick Gyokeres and Eze for their Team of the Week, given the pair were the outstanding players in a big derby win for the Premier League leaders.

Arsenal fans will be hoping it’s a similar story again this weekend against Chelsea.
