Diogo Dalot: Man United star continues renaissance under Michael Carrick

Manchester United made it five wins from six under Michael Carrick.

Their 1-0 win over Everton was enough to see the club jump up to fourth place in the league, just three points behind Aston Villa in third.

Although it was far from a vintage display, Manchester United showed grit and determination to get the job done in a way they have rarely managed in recent years.

The Portuguese international Dalot has improved recently since returning to his more natural right-back role and continued this renaissance on Monday evening.

Impressive statistics

Dalot was active in both the defensive and attacking phases of the game.

He made three tackles and four clearances as he helped his side to a rare clean sheet on the road.

Dalot also won 100% of his tackles and blocked one of Everton’s efforts on goal.

The full-back also won two out of three aerial contests and two out of his four ground duels in a productive night defensively.

The 26-year-old also contributed from an attacking perspective, though.

He completed one key pass in the match and took care of the ball with an 88% pass accuracy on the evening. Dalot also carried the ball forward 10 times in the match and completed his only dribble attempt.

The Portugal international also had a couple of shots on goal. One hit the target when he broke free down the right, but Jordan Pickford was equal to it.

He also caught hold of a fierce effort from distance in the first half, but the ball fizzed narrowly wide of the goal at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The right-back also showed his tactical flexibility by playing further forward when Noussair Mazraoui came on for the final 15 minutes of the match to shore up the victory.
