Area wrestlers advance at Keystone State Central youth qualifier

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – A host of area athletes earned Keystone State Central youth qualifier titles Saturday at 1st Summit Arena @ Cambria County War Memorial in downtown Johnstown.

Bishop McCort Catholic's Ryder Ascherl (105 pounds); Chestnut Ridge's Toby Bernash (115), Kohyn Deputy (65) and Grant Lazor (95); Forest Hills' Bronsyn Baxter (100); Holy Name's Jackson Strittmatter (70); and Portage's Brody Myers (75) were 11-12 boys winners.

At the boys 9-10 classification, Bishop McCort Catholic's Jordy Strittmatter (55), Cambria Heights' Colton Hite (80), Chestnut Ridge's Jameson Draves (90), Holy Name' Jace Strittmatter (60) and Forest Hills' Henry Roxby (65) and Levi Strayer (75) each won gold.

Chestnut Ridge's Niko Burkett (55) and Easton Hillegass (60), Forest Hills' Cruz Mackel (74) and Holy Name's Jaden Strittmatter (45) were 7-8 boys champs.

At the boys 6-and-under bracket, Conemaugh Township's Wes McDannell (75), Holy Name's Foster Charney (44), Portage's Brayden Rusnak (61) and Westmont Hilltop's Kolson Kepple (52) earn collected gold.

Bishop McCort Catholic's Journey Strittmatter (60-66) and Peyton Strittmatter (56-60), Chestnut Ridge's Caelan McElroy (120-134), Meyersdale's Harper Berkley (80-85) and Westmont Hilltop's Thea Harris (35-40) each won girls titles.
