Tributes continue to pour in on the death of NFL star Rondale Moore. Moore was found dead Saturday; he was just 25.One of those tributes came from SportsCenter anchor Scott Van Pelt. Van Pelt gave a touching tribute to the young NFL star, but there was a problem; they used the wrong picture.
Instead of a picture of Moore, they had a picture of Myles Price. The mistake didn’t go unnoticed. NFL commentator Dov Kleiman quickly caught the mistake and called out ESPN for it.He tweeted: “Pathetic: Scott Van Pelt did a dedicated segment for Rondale Moore detailing his passing on ESPN and used a picture of the wrong player…ESPN used a picture of Myles Price instead of Moore. Absolutely ridiculous.”
Fans noticed too, with most not blaming the SportsCenter anchor, but the graphics department for not catching the mistake before it went on the air. One fan said it was kind of disrespectful that they didn’t look up the picture to make sure it was the right person.Another fan tweeted it was “definitely a bad look” and that she expected more attention to detail.Mistakes happen, and Van Pelt, who is the constant professional, will probably apologize if he hasn’t already.
