Texas A&M (19-8, 9-5 SEC) is back on track after defeating Ole Miss 80-77 on Wednesday, followed by Saturday's 75-71 road win over Oklahoma, sweeping the Sooners, and further improving their NCAA Tournament résumé, increasing their odds to earn an at-large bid to nearly 80%, according to ESPN.
Led by star forward Rashaun Agee, who led the Aggies with 18 points and seven rebounds, and senior guard Rylan Griffen's 14 points, including three three-pointers, four players scored eight or more points, while reserve forward Zach Clemence has continued to make an impact off the bench after scoring 14 points on Wednesday and producing nine points on Saturday.
Playing much better defense, the Aggies shut down Oklahoma's leading scorer, Nigel Pack, to six points and 2-9 from the field, and forced six steals. Taking full advantage of the Sooners' inability to shut down the paint, the Aggies scored 32 points near the rim, and continued cut down on turnovers with just five on the night. This is the Aggie team we expect to see at this time of the year.
With the victory, Texas A&M earned its fourth Quad 1 win, which will carry plenty of weight heading into March, and in the all-important NET rankings, the Aggies moved up one spot to No. 42 and will have another shot to improve their ranking after facing Arkansas on the road on Wednesday night.
With four regular-season games remaining, Texas A&M needs at least two more wins to feel good heading into March, as eleven conference wins will more than likely result in an at-large bid to March Madness.
