No. 3 Washburn men’s basketball become MIAA champions, defeat Central Oklahoma

TOPEKA (KSNT) – The Ichabods clinched their 12th MIAA regular season title and their second in a row in purely dominant fashion.

Washburn men’s basketball (25-1, 15-1) defeated Central Oklahoma (15-13, 8-8) 82-58 on the road.

In the first half, the Ichabods shot 51.35% from the field and over 52% from beyond the arc. Washburn controlled all 40 minutes of play, with their largest lead of the night coming in the second half, leading by 30 points in the last 1:35 of the game.

The Ichabods picked up their first win in Edmond since 2017.

Jack Bachelor led the team with 19 points, nine assists, and four steals, shooting 5-of-8 from three. Marcus Glock followed with 14 points off the bench, going 4-of-6 from deep. Dillon Claussen and Brady Christiansen both reached double-figure scoring. Claussen put up 13 points in 17 minutes, and Christiansen added 12 of his own with seven rebounds.

Washburn’s bench continues to be one of the team’s biggest weapons, outscoring the Bronchos’ bench 24-9.

The Ichabods continue on their Oklahoma road trip at Rogers State on Feb. 21. That tip-off is set for 3:30 p.m.
