Injury Report: Steph Curry (knee) ruled out vs. Thursday vs. Celtics

While the Golden State Warriors received some positive news about a potential return to action for recently acquired big man Kristaps Porzingis, Steph Curry will still be sidelined to start the post-All-Star break stretch run. The All-Star point guard has missed the past five games as he deals with a knee injury. Curry has been experiencing right patellofemoral pain syndrome, otherwise known as "runner's knee."

The Warriors appeared to be targeting a return for Curry after the All-Star break. However, the veteran sharpshooter was unable to participate in a scrimmage at practice on Wednesday, causing the Warriors to rule him out for Thursday's contest against the Boston Celtics.

Curry will now be re-evaluated by Golden State's staff, with the chances of undergoing a new MRI on his right knee, according to head coach Steve Kerr.

Curry has played 39 games for the Warriors, averaging 27.2 points on 46.8% shooting from the field and 39.1% from beyond the arc to go along with 4.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds per contest.

With Curry remaining sidelined, the Warriors will lean on Pat Spencer, Brandin Podziemski and De'Anthony Melton in the backcourt.
