Ronell Williams, who had been on the Eagles’ defensive coaching staff since 2023, has been hired by the Raiders as linebackers coach, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Wednesday evening.

Williams joined the team in 2023 as the nickel corners coach under defensive coordinator Sean Desai, who he had previously worked under with the Bears. In 2024, new defensive coordinator Vic Fangio reassigned Williams to assistant linebackers and defensive quality control coach and he remained in that role this past year.

Williams grew up in Chester and played college football at West Chester, graduating in 2014 and then earning a masters at Temple in 2018. He coached at hometown Widener and then Temple before getting his first NFL job with the Bears in 2019 on a staff that also included former Eagles assistant coaches Matt Nagy, Bill Shuey, Brad Childress and Desai.

With the Raiders, Williams will work under 1st-year head coach Klint Kubiak and defensive coordinator Rob Leonard, a former Ravens assistant coach under John Harbaugh.

Among the familiar faces Williams will see with the Raiders are former Eagles Thomas Booker, Tristin McCollum and Devin White.

Williams becomes the fifth member of the Eagles’ 2025 coaching staff known to have departed this offseason.

From the defense, defensive backs coach Christian Parker is now Cowboys defensive coordinator, defensive assistant Tyler Yelk is now at Nebraska. From the offense, offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo accepted a job as Dolphins passing game coordinator and Jeff Stoutland left the organization. Tight ends coach Jason Michael and quarterbacks coach Scott Loeffler aren’t expected back, although nothing confirmed at this point.
